Why traditional Ring Binders don’t work for me.

Why traditional Ring Binders don’t work for me.

I realised that traditional ring planners don't really work for me and why! Traditionally the ring mechanism is attached directly to the spine of the cover. With this setup, every movement of the cover (such as opening and closing) directly affects the paper inside. The inserts move with the cover because they're physically connected to it.

But when the ring mechanism is mounted onto a piece of sturdy plastic and simply slid into the back pocket, that changes: The paper inside the rings barely moves when the cover moves. That means less stress on the inserts, a longer lifespan, and everything stays much neater inside the cover because the rings don't rotate 45 degrees every time you open or close it.

And another big advantage is that the cover itself becomes much more versatile: You can switch between bigger or smaller rings, use it for a bound notebook, a disc bound planner, or a spiral-bound planner. All with the same leather cover.

For me, this realisation makes a huge difference and I feel like I finally found my big girl „I've got my life together" style planner.
